Perfecta grill uses AI to help cook steaks in 90 seconds

CES is increasingly becoming a barbecue show, and companies are constantly looking for ways to bring more technology to your deck or patio. One company adding artificial intelligence technology to its spice racks is Seergerills, a British startup made up of engineers and product developers. Its flagship model, the Perfecta, can cook a one-inch-thick rib-eye steak in 90 seconds. Overall, the company says the grill looks more like a see-through countertop oven and cooks food about 10 times faster than traditional cooking methods.

Inside, dual vertical infrared burners cook both sides simultaneously, which not only speeds up the process but also eliminates the need for flipping. Seergerills says the burner has a maximum temperature of 1,652 degrees Fahrenheit, and the unit even ensures crisp edges thanks to 360-degree heating. The built-in artificial intelligence chef calculates the appropriate cooking time and temperature based on the food, taking into account the desired degree of doneness and browning. Sensors detect the thickness of foods such as steak and chicken to prevent over- or undercooking, and the burner automatically moves closer or further away from the food as needed in the process. The entire smart setup, which Seergerills calls NeuralFire, features a quad-core processor and a host of sensors for collecting cooking data.

According to the company, the vertical orientation eliminates any burning because only smoke and water vapor escape from the top, while fat and grease are collected in the dishwasher-safe drip pan at the bottom. The Perfecta also has oven and rotisserie modes so you can cook pizza and roast chicken with ease. There’s also chef mode, which gives you complete control over the device. Additionally, the company has designed a grill cart for complete outdoor setups. Due to the power of the burner, the Perfecta runs on gas and comes with a 12-volt power cord for onboard electronics. This includes a touch screen for entering your desired cooking parameters. Since this is an outdoor grill after all, we won’t be able to see it cooking on a trade show table. But the company said it will be available to early buyers by the end of the year.

Seergerills plans to release the Perfecta in the fourth quarter of 2024, priced at $3,500. Early adopters can save $1,000 before CES ends.
