How to watch the Microsoft Surface, Windows AI and Copilot event

It’s almost time for another Microsoft Live event, the first since last September. The festivities begin on Thursday, March 21st at 12:00 PM ET. The best way to watch it all unfold is through Microsoft’s official live stream; it looks like they won’t be streaming it on YouTube this time. This is the first time Microsoft will be attending a live event without former chief product officer and longtime keynote speaker Panos Panay, who left Amazon last year.

What to expect from Microsoft

The event is billed as a “new era of work” and will therefore focus primarily on commercial spaces. There are many rumors that Microsoft will take this opportunity to launch a series of new Surface devices. Windows Center It is claimed that the OLED Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will be the protagonists of the event.

There is a safe bet. Microsoft will continue to work on artificial intelligence. Rumors indicate that the Surface Pro 10 and Laptop 6 will be powered by Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X Elite silicon CPUs, as well as next-generation neural processing units (NPUs) designed for advanced AI tasks. To that end, reports indicate that the devices will be called “AI PCs” and will include a dedicated button to bring up the company’s Copilot digital assistant. The Intel version is expected to launch in April, while the Arm-based Snapdragon version is reported to launch in June this year.

Rumors have been working overtime in preparation for the event. The report also suggests that Microsoft will introduce a set of new AI features that may appear on Windows computers, including real-time subtitles and translation, game upgrades and frame rate smoothing, and upgraded Windows Studio effects.

A product called AI Explorer may also be launched at the event. This is rumored to be a built-in timeline feature that can be searched via natural language. It reportedly resides on your device and records everything you do and see. So you can ask AI Explorer to “Find something I’ve seen before about dinosaurs” and it will scour every moment in your PC’s history for relevant content. It could be a privacy nightmare, but it could also end up making digital assistants actually useful. We fully expect Microsoft to provide security assurances with AI Explorer.

These AI features won’t be exclusive to the Surface Pro Pro and Surface Laptop 6, with reports suggesting they will be part of the company’s annual feature update for Windows 11, expected to be released this fall. Engadget will have full coverage of the event and spotlight all the juicy tidbits.
